Post-jam update out now!


Key To Success has received its first post-jam update, which adds proper progression to the game along with various QoL and polish adjustments.

Changelog:

  • Levels are no longer all unlocked from the start. Instead, they must be completed sequentially, and are unlocked one after the other.
  • You can now gain score by defeating enemies. The game saves your high score for each level.
  • New, improved mixes have been added for all music in the game.
  • The game and music should no longer be able to desync (the synchronization logic has been replaced with a more reliable approach).
  • Automatically moving platforms (those that move without you hitting a button) are now synchronized to the music, like everything else.
  • Timing of music-synchronized animations has been adjusted to improve feel.
  • Moving platform behavior has been made more consistent.
  • A specific section in level 3 has been made less frustrating.
  • Dialogue bubbles are now drawn dynamically, instead of using premade sprites.
  • Wind density is no longer erroneously too low, and now matches that seen in the prerelease videos of the game.
  • The in-level background now has horizontal parallax.
  • Button icons are now animated.
  • The death sound effect now also plays when falling out of the level.
  • Performance has been improved significantly (notably, ground and wind rendering has been optimized).
  • Various other small fixes/adjustments.
